Alexey Danilin's Design Fuses Thai Temple Spirit with Modern Lighting

The Bangkok collection stands out for its unique tiered structure, reminiscent of the Wat, or Thai temples, which symbolize the Buddhist universe's teachings on the transient nature of existence. These temples, with their tiered roofs and light-admitting gaps, have been ingeniously reimagined into a series of luminous fixtures that not only serve as sources of light but also as artistic statements.

Alexey Danilin's approach to the Bangkok Pendant Lamp was to distill the essence of the "Emerald Buddha" temple into a series of glass elements that are both concise and expressive. The lamps are designed to be fully enveloped in light, much like the sacred interiors they pay homage to. The use of LED boards with matte diffusers at both the top and bottom of each lamp ensures a soft, diffuse glow that enhances any space.

The choice of glossy tinted glass for the lamp's construction was a deliberate nod to the reflective surfaces of Thai temples, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. This material choice not only captures the aesthetic of the temples but also allows for a sustainable approach to production, with repeatable elements minimizing environmental impact.

Technical precision is evident in the design's specifications, with a color temperature of 3000 K, a color rendering index of 85 CRI, and a luminous flux of 1000 lm. These specifications ensure that the Bangkok Pendant Lamp provides ample illumination, suitable for both accent and primary lighting needs.

User interaction with the Bangkok collection is thoughtfully considered, with adjustable wire heights for varied compositions and a specially designed ceiling bowl with magnetic mounts to conceal the driver and maintain a clean aesthetic. The Bangkok Pendant Lamp project, which began in April 2022 and concluded in August 2022 in Moscow, was a collaborative effort led by Alexey Danilin with contributions from engineer Nikita Morozov, product manager Elena Slivka, and assistant product manager Anastasia Orlova. The design was showcased at Interlight Russia 2022, where it captivated audiences with its blend of ancient inspiration and modern technology.
